Main features

The problem of abating chlorides in waste liquids is a serious one in tanning. It is not sufficient just to reduce sodium chloride in pickle seeing that the salt is present mainly in raw skins to preserve them. A significant improvement can be obtained by removing salt from raw hides through mechanical process. S.C. offers a machine exclusively planned for this purpose, the Salt Shaker 316.

Technical features
Salt Shaker 316 is a simple machine consisting of a cylindrical rotating cage, a strong support frame and a motor group that sets the cage in rotation. The salted hides, still folded, are loaded on a feeder trough and then enter the rotating cage, where, by colliding with the walls, they stretch and lose salt and other impurities such as excrements and mud, that are collected under the machine. A series of pegs, spiral-placed along the whole length of the cage, makes the hides go forward, towards the exit end. By modifying the inclination of the rotating cage by means of a hydraulic jack, one can prolong at will the time of stay of hides inside the cage, and therefore the quantity or removed salt. The hides discharged out of the Salt Shaker are well stretched out and can be collected into containers; then they are loaded in soaking drums/liming or continuously transferred into the drums by means of a system of belt conveyors.
The absence of corners in contact with hides is the best guarantee as regards the possibility of mechanical damages. The usage of stainless steel (AISI316) for the parts in contact with hide makes the machine corrosion-proof.
